Hi everyone! I am Cori Nicholls, the owner and creative force behind Jot. In creating this store it is my vision to create a haven for stationery nerds like myself.
The stock in this store will vary from day to day. It will be a mixture of handmade goods and interesting paper and pen goods to provide creative fuel for your day. I will be adding new items regularly and may not always have the same stock. If you see something you like, you should probably buy it because I may not be able to offer it again.
If you have any suggestions of products you would like to see, you can contact me using the form on this site and I will see what I can do.
People of the world, Raise your pens and Jot!
I have always loved stationery and creating useful things. In 2014, I started to make traveler’s notebook covers for myself and as gifts for family and friends. I loved that I could add my own personal touch to them and soon people were telling me I should sell them! I didn’t really want to listen but the pull was there. In 2015, disgruntled with both my current job and my childcare situation, serendipity fell when our dayhome decided to close it’s doors...and my husband and I decided the time was right for me to leave my full time job to stay home with our twins and start my dream of a stationery shop!
In March 2015 Jot opened it’s doors as a small shop on Big Cartel. I quickly decided that I needed much broader exposure if I was ever to keep going and in April 2015 I moved the shop to Etsy, where it lived for over three years and 2000 sales! In the summer of 2018, I decided I wanted to be able to provide much more for my customers and would need a much more flexible platform to run it on...so Jot moved to an independent shop where it will live going forward.
As a creative soul, I love running my own business where I can bring my visions to life. I have very exacting standards and am not afraid to try creating new things. Every leather that goes into my shop has been handpicked from local leather suppliers and I have taken great pains to improve the quality of my materials and details as I have been able to financially make the leaps. I am growing slowly because I want to be around for some time and be a name people can count on. My almost 1000 5 star reviews on Etsy tell me that I’m on the right track. I have also introduced a commitment to bringing my shop as close to zero waste as I can...which means I will be have many more one of a kind items in the shop in an effort to reduce the amount of scrap leather I refuse to throw in the garbage.
Jot is a one woman show - from idea to product to photography to shipping...it is 100% Cori.
